So many people ring me and ask how to tell the difference between a proof and uncirculated penny.
Here is a pair of coins. The proof is on the left. The mint roll uncirculated coin is on the right. See how rudimentary the normal coin looks. The proof coin is NOT a polished old one. Now you know. If the coin you think is a proof doesn’t look like this coin then the likelihood of it being a proof is extremely remote.
