Stunning Flora and Fauna design
The reverse design features a mix of plants and animals from various parts of Australia. The animals, which include but are not limited to a koala, a kangaroo, and a platypus, are gilt, while the plants are all silver. Mixed in are ribbons that indicate where the species represented can be found. At the top is the inscription “FLORA & FAUNA,” while at the bottom is another inscription that reads, “EMBLEMS OF AUSTRALIA.”
On the obverse of this coin is a right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and familiar to most experienced coin collectors, the image features the queen wearing a tiara. Her name, “ELIZABETH II,” is inscribed along the rim and, together with three other sets of inscriptions, “NIUE 2017,” “TEN DOLLARS,” AND 5 OZ 999 SILVER,” encircles the effigy.
