Theme Background:

Sydney Opera House boasts approximately a thousand rooms, including five theatres, five rehearsal studios, two main halls, four restaurants, six bars and gift and souvenir stores. The distinctive roofs of the building are constructed from over a million glazed granite tiles, imported from Sweden.

Design:

The silver coin’s reverse depicts Sydney Opera House, against a backdrop of colourful fireworks framed within a map shape of Australia. The inscription THE LAND DOWN UNDER and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also incorporated in the design.

The gold coin’s reverse depicts Sydney Opera House and the harbour. The inscription THE LAND DOWN UNDER and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also incorporated in the design.

The obverse of both coins depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2013 year-date and monetary denomination.
