Struck by the Melbourne Mint during The Great Depression, there wasn’t a demand to produce large quantities of pennies as they had done in the late 1920’s. The following year a small order was placed and some released to visitors of the Melbourne Mint. Therefore only about 1500-3000 coins were struck dated 1930.
