This is an extremely rare Pre Federation Bank note of Australia – The Union Bank of Australia Ltd (1837 -1951)
It was engaved by Waterlow and Sons Ltd London Wall, London
Previously agreed banknote designs were printed in different colours and presented to the bank for consideration.
These colour trials presented in top condition are almost impossible to source due to their age and the numbers originally produced.
The Union Bank was one of Australia’s major Imperial banks.
There was strong demand for the banks notes during the 1893 financial crisis as it was one of the few banks to remain open.
This note is graded about uncirculated.
